Saharanpur. Out of 1400 schools in Saharanpur district, 256 schools are still left in which students do not have the facility of desks and chairs to sit. District Basic Education Officer Dr. Vinita Goyal said that she has talked to the District Program Officer DPRO in this regard. Who has assured that furniture will reach these schools soon. Keep in mind that the state government has started the Kayakalp scheme to provide better education and facilities in council schools. Many schools have upgraded themselves and have even defeated convent schools. The transformation of schools was to be done by the Gram Panchayats under the supervision of Basic Education and Panchayat Raj Department. But due to lack of budget at some places and the indifference of the village heads at other places, this ambitious plan of the government has been ruined. In many schools, small students are yearning to even sit on desks and chairs. They are forced to bring sacks and mats from their homes and study on them. The worst condition is of 67 schools in Muzaffarabad block. The number of such schools is 44 in Nakur block. 25 schools in Pawanrka block, 22 in Nanauta, 21 in Nagal, 19 in Ballia Khedi, 14 in Sarsawa, 13 in Rampur block, 11 each in Gangoh and Deoband blocks and 9 schools in Sadhauli Kadim block do not have furniture facilities for students.
