New Delhi, Congress is troubled by its MLAs who switch sides after winning. Taking lessons from the events of Karnataka, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and North-East states, now the Congress is adopting a new formula in Gujarat. The party has fixed some points for the selection of its candidates. The party does not want to trust those who seem suspicious for whatever reason. The party does not want to give tickets to candidates who, despite having the potential to win, may be forced to switch sides for some reason.

Party sources said that before giving the ticket, the party is conducting an independent assessment of the financial condition of the candidate. The party is taking information about the candidates as well as their family, financial status of wife and children, their occupation etc. Party sources said that taking lessons from the past events, this new formula is being adopted in Gujarat. Earlier, in Gujarat too, 77 candidates of Congress had won in the 2017 elections, but by 2022, its 15 MLAs have reduced. In other states also MLAs had left the party.

Aam Aadmi Party's taunt in Gujarat

In Gujarat, Aam Aadmi Party has started saying that voting for Congress means voting for BJP because after winning MLAs go to BJP. When Congress MLAs from Karnataka, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Northeast states leave the party or join the BJP, the Congress often alleges that they are forced to leave the Congress by showing fear of ED and IT. It is noteworthy that in the screening by the Congress party, tickets will be given only after looking at the economic and criminal record of the candidates and their income from the business of their family. Gujarat will go to polls in two phases on December 1 and 5 and the results will be out on December 8.
